I'd like to trace down a particular line in the family, and in order to do that, i need to request my mothers English Birth Certificate/Registration Certificate or Naturalisation Papers from GRO. She was born overseas, to a British father, but i only have documental proof she held a British passport in her mid life, i have the passport number, date it was issued (in the 2000's) and when it expired. She moved to the country in 1957 when she was still in her 20's.
The tricky part is she retired in Italy, which is where she died and i do not have access to her Death Certificate to confirm the death to the GRO. Will they still be able to help me despite this?
Since she was born overseas, they might not have her Registration Certificate at all, as a result, the actual birth certificate wouldn't even exist.
However, at the time she applied for her first ever British passport, she would have to submit some form of proof in order to get her first UK passport or Naturalise. Would GRO be able to find her application records for me and pass whatever proof of "birthright" she submitted to me?
Thank you in advance!
