Hi Katarzyna
The family as far as I have got is Isaac Rees married Emma Tobutt in March 1891 at St Savours Southwark. They had 6 children all born in Walworth/Southwark
Margaret Rees born 1892
John W Rees born 1896
Robert Rees born 1898 was killed in the first World War
Charles Hopkins Rees born1902 was my father
Florence Rees was born 1904
Albert George Rees born 1905
Emma Rees died 1910
Isaac Rees died 1922
My father refused to talk about his family while he was alive and he had left home to join the Royal Navy as soon as possible. You could well be right about Thomas and John being mixed up on the 1911 census
I have done the family history up to this point, but stopped about 3 years ago as I was having trouble moving forward. I only really know what happened to Robert Rees, who was killed 20 September 1917,and is buried at Tyne Cot Cemetary, plus of course my father Charles Hopkins.
As neither my brother or I have grandchildren from the male side, unless I can find any descendants from either Thomas W or Albert George, the thread from the Rees side dies out after centuries.
Before I stopped earlier I had found the mix up between the naming of John W on the 1901 census, and Thomas W on the 1911 census, I had also found the marriage between Thomas W and Beatrice Martha Adlington in1922, so you have confirmed that for me. That is the reason that I am concentrating on the 2 males, but I have not yet been able to continue with the 2 females. As far as I can understand, as both Isaac and Emma had died by 1922, Margaret, as the older had given up work and became head of the family that was still living together. Whether either she or her younger sister Florence ever married, I don't know.
I appreciate all the time you have spent helping me. Thank you very much. I am hoping that either or both Thomas W and Albert George had sons who then carried on the family line. I know that at 82 years old I possible won't be able to do much more research that I can hand on to my 3 sons.

Hi Val,
Many thanks for your post. It certainly looks like you are right. In the 1911 census Thomas is listed as being a District Messenger. You say that in the 1939 listing he is given as being married. Does it give any indication oof his wifes name? I believe it to have been Beatrice Martha nee Adlington with a marriage date of 1922. From the dates it looks as if that would be all of their children. So sadly no males to carry on the family name. Everything now depends upon Albert George having a son or it is goodbye to our stem of Rees.

If you haven't already done so Arthur I would strongly suggest getting certificates to back up what you perceive to be the truth. Otherwise you could end up chasing something that isn't right.
Julie They're coming to take me away haha hee hee..........
Val,
Your post about someone has the facts posted on their tree in Ancestry - If the tree you refer to is the Brill/Southern Tree, they have made it private only so I cannot access it.
