FreeCen have relaunched their site but unfortunately I have found the results very poor. I tried a search on surname Colthup in Kent, and compared with the same search on FindMyPast:
    FreeCen FMP
    1841 0 9
    1851 0 15
    1861 7 10
    1871 7 38
    1881 0 53
    1891 5 52

It is not so easy to compare with Ancestry because there are many records where I have put Colthup as an alternative spelling to the transcription. I have reported these results to FreeCen but I don't have time at present to try to find some of the putative mistranscriptions to see how they were transcribed. Anyone bored, feel free to investigate.

Sorry I don't know how to format a table on here.

Having looked into this more thoroughly I now realise that the main reason for the disparity is not mistranscriptions, it is just that not much of the censuses have yet been transcribed at all, and Kent is particularly sparsely done.
