  • another birth reg query

am trying to find stuff I have left to one side for a while

This one probably is the hardest

Charles George Mack/Mack according to his Death and Will born 23 Jun 1907

    1911

Mother Miriam Rebecca Gutantag/Rose born 1870 in Mile End . she calls herself Minnie Macks in 1911

I dont think she married the father of Charles although in 1911 she says she is a widow

Cannot find a birth for him anywhere

Just throwing this out as "possibles" to be investigated ......

...... thinking in terms of my own grandfather who told everyone his birthday was not when I've found it to be :D

You mentioned surnames Gutantag, Rose, Mack, Macks

I found this on Freebmd .....

      Births Mar 1906 (>99%)
      Rose Charles George Richmond, S. 2a 530

but obviously wrong from GRO ....

      ROSE, CHARLES GEORGE mmn MIDDLETON
GRO Reference: 1906 M Quarter in RICHMOND - SURREY Volume 02A Page 530
My grandmother, on the beach, South Bay, Scarborough, undated photo (poss. 1929 or 1930)

Researching Cadd, Schofield, Cottrell in Lancashire, Buckinghamshire; Taylor, Park in Westmorland; Hayhurst in Yorkshire, Westmorland, Lancashire; Hughes, Roberts in Wales.

        Just ignore mine Val
Pretty sure that is the birth of a baby who died in the same quarter aged O Whitechapel.

It could just be a mistake on the index.

You could try the local register office to see if they have it in their records.

It was the law to register a birth but of course that doesn't mean that no one ever broke the law! Quite a few people even today don't appear to have ever been registered although I bet at least some of them WERE registered but not under the name you would expect!
