  • Stuck on parents and death......should be easy !

I am looking for the family of Harriet Tretheway born abt 1840 St Georges Surrey. In 1864 she married Thomas Lilley and I have found her with him on most census`s until he died in 1891. Unfortunately she ended up in a workhouse in 1920 and I know it is her as her son Alfred`s address is on there as 20, Peabody Buildings. I can`t find any other reference to her birth and family and I can find a death in 1922 in Lewisham that adds up but a member of the family says she died before that.
Help would be much appreciated, thanks.

The extra detail in the new GRO index gives her mother's maiden name as JUDD.

Could be David, although all the records I have seen say she was born in 1840, thanks

A bit more about the Harriot Tretheway above:

In 1841 census Harriot Tretheway (3) is in the Household of Robt Tretheway (Carpenter) in Walker St. Southwark, St George (HO107/1086/4/12)
In 1851 census Hariet Tretheway (12) in Lant Street, Southwark daughter of Robert Tretheway (Master Carpenter) (HO107/1564/119/?? - from FamilySearch
              Can't find her in 1861

Years of birth can be out on census's - usually the nearest one you can find to their birth is the best indication of true year.

The Robert Tretheway - Sarah Judd marriage in 1816 fits the forenames in the '41 and '51 census records.

Thanks so much, the year of birth could be wrong although I got the date from her workhouse admission as 11th Oct. 1840

                          Lyn

if you have her marriage cert then that surely would confirm her father's name and occupation? would that then tally with any census? children's names etc.. witness to marriage?

in 1861 there are some 'missing' areas in london. might be why she can't be spotted?
