Windows 10 upgrade question

I am completely ignorant about this so
I want to upgrade a Vista PC 32 Bit 2GB to Windows 10 but am very confused
I have seen USBs being sold with an activation Key will this do it or do I need a Disc
Can somebody tell me exactly what I need to buy thanks I dont mind doing a clean install would probably be better.

Both the upgrade for Win7 and Win8.1 were done through downloading from the Microsoft down load site Val. No problems encountered with either.

I am going straight from Vista to windows 10 Grumpy dont have windows 7, so you aint drowned yet then ?

I don't think it would make any difference Val, anyway the download site would tell you whether they were compatible or not.
