How do i go forward or backward, so to speak?
I am at a loss as how I can extend my family search on both sides?
On one side, Stephen Atkinson, born in Kirkby Lonsdale, (info from 1881 census where he is with his wife Annie and child Robert in Undermillbeck Windermere, working as a Stonemason), they married in 1879. Definitely my grandfather, but the surname is so common that each family has the same Christian names and it seems I have hit a brick wall and cannot move backwards on that. WHO were his parents and grandparents and when did he die? He was on the 1911 census living in Skerton Lancaster.
The other side is Gornall and I cannot get past Abraham born in Lancaster 1860-1928, I definitely know is my gr grandfather, but WHO are his parents/grandparents and who did he marry?
I have everything forward of these brick walls, as I was fortunate to get certificates/photo's from 2 cousins.
Can anyone help me please?
