    Pilot officer Robert Atkinson 46325

I am researching a local memorial which also has 2 commonwealth airman. The 2 airman are also on another memorial which I have begun to have a look at but cannot get a start with Robert; here is a link with another link that takes you to the CWWG

    http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...php?qnum=52951

all the crewman are listed but just need help with Robert.

I can't seem to pinpoint him at all, have CWGC, parents Henry and Elizabeth Ann, Dipton, Co. Durham so any help would be gratefully received.

Have cracked it! Dipton comes under the Stanley district of County Durham in the 1939 Register. Google has Dipton as a village close to Stanley. Henry and Elizabeth Ann (she is listed as Eliz. A.) are at the Red Lion Hotel of which she is the manageress and Henry is Police War Reserve. The rest of the household are closed entries.

I arrived at this a little late, but have been taking a look too.
I haven't turned up anything else, but am local (just 7 miles from Dipton), so if you'd like any photos please just ask.
I see that a local group have raised funds to erect a new memorial (see Dipton War Memorial Group on FB) - you could contact them to ask whether Robert's name will be on the memorial.
            Kind regards,
            William
Current focus of research: The Macleods of Lewis, especially those of the Point district.
Of particular interest are Macleod families with men by the name of Torquil.
Please see my user page for more detail...and pm me if we might share research!

Here are the births of who I think are your Robert plus siblings. There could be more younger ones to find plus girls but the eldest two boys are on the 1911 census with their parents.

1911 Henry is still in Westmoreland 1939 and have now got to grips with the reg. area after looking at the Dipton info.
Found a Henry Atkinson retiring from the police force, native of Consett

Consett is also in Lanchester parish. This is the only Henry Atkinson 1886 +\-2 years in Lanchester.
