But it's still nice to have it at long last.

My next question is,how can i get Stanley's death cert as it was 1986 Would they issue it only knowing i'm not direct connection only by his mother, she was my 3 x great aunt?
    Thanks,
    Kaz.
    Hi Kaz.

Regarding the death cert for South Australia.

    Who can apply:

    Death Certificates
Are only available to the current spouse, parents, children and non-parental legal custodians / guardians (documentary evidence required).

    Family History
If a birth registration is over 75 years, a death registration over 25 years, or a marriage registration over 60 years, any person may apply.

Persons other than those mentioned above may apply for a certificate if they have written authorisation from an eligible party and upon production of identification from that person as well as themselves.

I have worked out who these two called Colthup were (born in Kent and emigrated in 1920's). They had 3 children when they emigrated and then had a daughter in Victoria, probably around 1924-1930. Any sign of her on your discs?

If it is not too much trouble I would appreciate any other births or marriages of Colthup (A daughter should be married to a Payne) but apparently we should not post details of anyone possibly living, and any you find will be, so perhaps a personal message would be in order?

Hi Michael. Births on disc ( Cd ) for the state of Victoria only go up to 1921.
The two i listed were the only ones on cd ( bdm for this state )

NSW bdm's are on-line.....there are quite a few listed in this state.
The Registry was formed in 1856 to register life events in New South Wales accurately and securely for all time, ensuring their integrity and confidentiality. All our over the counter services are available at Service NSW centres.

You could also try the current "Australian White Pages Directory"

A quick check tells me there are 4 COLTHUP listed in Melbourne suburbs.
Also 4 results in New South Wales.

          Hi Jim.

JONES being such a common name, i would need a ittle more information regarding your Mary E. and Ronald Jones.

Victoria death index's register many deaths for a Mary and Ronald JONES.

To narrow down a possible find i would need to know.
          1. Approx Birth years for both Mary MAHER and Ronald JONES
          2. Parents given names and mothers maiden name/s ( if known )
          3. Were they both born in Australia? ( which State....if known )
          4. Did they marry here?......or did they immigrate to Australia? ( when - approx )
          5. Any Childrens names ( if known )

All this infomation helps to search.....as JONES ( like SMITH ) is such a common surname.

Also, please remember as i stated in my heading that deaths for the State of Victoria can only be searched up to 1985

          UPDATE:

According to current White Pages and Phone Directory
The address you supplied "54 Kiora Street.Laverton.Victoria" is still active and there is a R. JONES registered at this address....with Phone number supplied.

          See: Victoria White pages Directory

Type in surname search box JONES and initial R......then Location " Laverton Victoria"

          5 results:
          One at:

          54 Kiora St
          Altona Meadows VIC 3028

Altona Meadows is a suburb of Laverton

          Cheers. Tony ( Victoria )

            Hi Tony
Wonder if can help me with a lookup for Lingwood Toovey.
He was born about 1828 in either Colchester Essex or Westerham/Sevenoaks Kent. I have found some info on him suggesting he was in Nsw in 1850, Melbourne around 1855- 57 and a contact has found an enrty on a tombstone in Westerham Kent that Lingwood Toovey died in Adelaide South Australia aged 41. That would make his death around 1869.
I wonder whether could help confirm.

              Hi Tidders.

Sorry, but there is no mention of a Lingwood Toovey on the South Australian death cd.
It does not mean he didn't die there or buried in South Australia, but just that there is no "registered" death on the cd index 1842 - 1915.under this name.

There is mention of him being in Melbourne Vic. during the 1850s.

Early newspaper clipping from the "Argus Newspaper" in Melbourne.

              The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848 - 1956) Saturday 4 June 1853
WALTER BRIGGS, ship Peru. --- The party who advertised for the above, may
hear of the same by applying to Lingwood Toovey,Mr. Hood's Druggist,
              68, Great Collingwood street, east.

              The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848 - 1956) Thursday 19 March 1857
Lingwood Toovey, remanded on the charge of embezzlement, was re-examined, and finally discharged.

On Emily's Lawsons [cameron] death cert it shows her to be a widow and husband to be William Alexanda Lawson which i truly think is a mistake as their 2nd son was William Alexander 55 yrs old at her death, i suppose the info provided is only as good as what info is given to the person filling out the form, as i noticed that their 3 rd child my grandmother to be Lorna lillian and her birth cert shows lilian catherine grace Lawson.

I have also heard from other sources that William may of been killed in a mining accident but who knows, my brother got a photo of Emilys grave from Fawkner cemetery and that only shows Emily's name.

                Regards,
                Moya & Lionel.
                Tony,
I have just sighted the marriage cert of his 1st daughter emily isabella who was married in 1907 and Williams name appeared on the cert dated 24/5/1907, so that narrows his death or disappearance to between 1907 & 1911.I dont know whether this further info will assist.

                Regards,
                Lionel & Moya.

                  Thanks Tony
Appreciate your time to lookup for Lingwood Toovey.
I found another entry for him in The Argus Melbourne Sept 23 1861
Another court appearance at Police City Court. Fined 5 shillings for being drunk. It was spelt Linguid Toovey.

It appears he spent quite some time living in Melbourne.
I wonder if he is on any electoral rolls at least between 1851 to 1861.
I asked my contact in Westerham was there any dates for him on the Tombstone in the St Marys church graveyard and she says there is an inscription saying May 2nd 1869.
Not sure if you can help further or not Tony.

                        Hello "Tony Oz" and "tidders",

                        Re: Lingwood TOOVEY death

The SOUTH AUSTRALIAN death index show a Longwood TOOREY died 28th May 1869.
The Biographical Index of SOUTH AUSTRALIANS 1836 - 1885 has Lingwood recorded as TOOREY rather than TOOVEY.
Lingwood TOOREY was buried 1869 WEST TERRACE Cemetery, SOUTH AUSTRALIA; states date of death as 29th May 1869
Interestingly there was a Francis Joseph TOOVEY (son of Richard George TOOVEY who married 1850, MELBOURNE, VICTORIA) married and died in SOUTH AUSTRALIA, also buried at WEST TERRACE Cemetery as Francis Joseph TOOREY.

                          There is an excellent free online site to search;
Google -- Brisbane Council Online Service then go to Grave Location Search. Gives full date of death and persons in each grave.

This find for Lingwood Toovey (Toorey) certainly looks promising. I have him being born around 1828 and death 02/05/1869.
A friend in Westerham Kent UK found an inscription on a memorial stone in the local church. I will see if I can confirm dates.
                            Thankyou so much
