    Ethernet

Losing internet a lot ,I do have a problem with the phone line ,am still waiting for BT to sort an outside line problem, in the mean time ,am now getting this message ,when the internet goes off and I do a diagnostic.

Ethernet does not have a valid IP configuration

Anybody know what this means ? thanks

It means exactly what it says Val...

When your PC starts up, it will attempt to obtain a local IP address from your router for every network interface that is connected, wireless and cabled (Ethernet)... If it cannot obtain an IP address for an interface, it will show a message.

If you are having broadband issues, it may be indicative of a faulty router but you would need to go through full diagnostics with your ISP to determine that.

Thanks Grim, BT have sent an engineer here three times since July, they all say the problem is between our property and next door, but nobody has fixed it as yet, and the phone line is so noisy, thought it was probably to do with that.
