  • External Hard Drives

I have bought a Seagate with 1TB of space. It's the slim version so quite compact. When I connected to my laptop it seemed to take over and, I think, backed up my pc to the external drive. I can't tell what it has done and don't know how to find out.......there are no physical controls and the options on the 'Dashboard' don't cover what I want to know.
Can anyone offer any suggestions please?

The easiest way is to right click on the hard drive icon in "My Computer" and click the Properties option.
Check the free space amount it should be about 930 GB if it is "empty"

I would imagine the hard drive simply installed its drivers etc onto your main drive to enable windows to access it.
Having said that Seagate certainly used to provide a back up option but I am pretty sure you had to manually choose that option when the drive was first installed before it became active.

    Cheers
