      Hi Elaine,

I must be going potty. I have tried all the options suggested but when I click on format and paragraph it doesn't give me the option of double spacing.

Which version of Microsoft Works are you using?

As a shortcut, does holding the Ctrl key and pressing 2 work?

If so, Ctrl key and pressing 1 should get you back to single spacing

            Hi Elaine,

It certainly does. Thanks so much. Have been puzzling over this for a few days on and off.

Can get on and write Uncle's Eulogy now.

              Hi
When you have clicked on paragraph does it give two options?
Line and Page breaks & Indents and spacing. The second gives you the choice for single, double spacing + others. I have Windows XP.

                Hi Moggie,

No it doesn't, just says indents and spacing but no options to choose double spacing...very strange. I have Windows 8

Sometimes they only install Starter Editions on new computers, as a freebie - which may not have all the options that the full version has.

I didn't realise that the Ctrl 1 and Ctrl 2 also work with Word - so I've learnt something new today as well!

Microsoft Works has been discontinued for sometime as also has the more recent Office Starter. If you want a fully featured word processor without paying Ms's exorbitant price then try Libre Office which is both good and free.
