  • Moving a modem router

How easy is it to move a modem router to another place?

When we first set up the wireless router it was to a PC in a small bedroom. The PC is redundant and not been used for years as we all have laptops.
We find we keep losing our internet connection so feel it would be better placed somewhere else, i.e. downstairs where we mostly use our laptops.

There's an ethernet cable - what does that do? which is connected to the PC. Is this necessary? So could we just unplug the router and plug it in somewhere downstairs? or is there more to it?

If your other devices are already working by connecting to it via Wireless, then there is no problem
All you do is move it to where you want it, plug it into the phoneline (as it is upstairs?) and they will still be able to connect to it

The ethernet cable is used to connect a computer direct to the router if you need to make configuration changes, which in your case will not need to take place.
If you have a 'smart' TV, you should connect that to the router via ethernet, as the connection is much faster
