  • Is it on its way out?

My computer (Dell Inspiron) which is just over 2years old is noisy when I switch it on. Any ideas as to what might be the cause/remedy? Tried shutting down and restarting to no avail.

It could be the fan working overtime! Check the air vents for dust!

Thanks Elaine but it is not the fan. The fan makes a different noise. The dust situation is OK.
It is making a humming noise. Just stopped now so fingers crossed. I understand they make noises as they get older.

It could be the hard disk starting up and settling down, these sometimes get noisy with age.
I would ensure I had back-ups of anything of importance just in case.
                Cheers
