Lyn...........Cornelius Patrick is my grandfather's brother. Not sure about any of the others.
My grandfather was Michael Bowler and did serve with the NZ ANZACS but he came to Australia about 1925 and lived till 1972, so that wouldn't be him on the Cenotaph site, would it??

Thanks Lyn.........
I have visitors for dinner, but will try to get back later.
I have quite a few in Te Henui cemetery. I have a photo of the headstone, but they are Bowlers. Not sure of the Kirbys or Husseys, but the families are mostly North Island.

I have to go & put dinner on...have just spent 2hrs yakking to my sister in Rockingham, so haven't done what I wanted this afternoon. I was planning to look at a few more passenger lists & then do some hunting of cemeteries for my rellies...will include your Bowlers in my searches.
Fingers crossed...if I can't find mine, maybe I can find yours! ;)

Hi Lyn,
I have (from PRs in Kerry, so should be correct):
Baptisms for the children of Patrick Bowler and Deborah Brosnan
Mary 1848
John 1849
John 1850 (I'd say the first one died)
Patrick 1852
Michael 1852
Margaret 1857.
John and Patrick went to NZ so I think not before about 1870??
However, I get the impression there could have been an uncle (also Bolwer) already in NZ.
John married Brigid Kirby (not sure where or when).
Patrick married Hannah Londrigan 1883 in Wanganui.
Mary Bowler b.1848 married Michael Hussey in 1868 in Kerry. They had a daughters, Deborah and Johanna born 1869 and 1870ish. There were also sons.
Michael Hussey was murdered (mistaken idendity) in a field in Farranfore, Kerry. Not sure of the year, but his two daughters were sent to thier uncles in NZ as there was no dowry for them. The Hussey sons took over the family farm in Kerry.
So to answer your question.............if one of Patrick Bowler's (senior) brothers went to NZ, then 1853 could be about perfect. I did find one "Mr Bowler" on a passenger list around that time, but can't get any more info on him.
Libby.

They are indeed, and I saw them! But I need some Corbetts arriving about 1855/6. There are some earlier that are mine but I need their parents.
