    RootsTech2020

In case you don't visit the Genealogy News area, RootsTech2020 starts next Wednesday, back in its home in Salt Lake City.

I've put the link to the free live streaming schedule here in case you are interested.

During the conference, it's well worth following the various Facebook groups for the main sites to hear about any announcements and any links to talks which may appear.

Hotel booked so I don’t miss out, then I can go for all 3 days this time.
And now I've bought my ticket too.

https://www.rootstech.org/video/whats-new-at-ancestry - free recording of Christa Cowen's talk.

At the beginning, she hints at some changes to be announced today.
        Overview of records.
1950 US census not due out yet.
        Card catalogue.
Tags & ThruLines. They wanted the feedback. How they reacted to the feedback.
Profile page changes. More likely to get a response if you have a profile photo.
Improved member search. Explanation about using it.
About halfway through she talks about the new Message Centre.
Then she moves on to talk about the trees. She talks about many things I didn't know existed as I don't use their tree to work on but really useful information for those those who do.
She moves on to hints and how to use them. That they update them after changes are made.

Until I went to the London one for a day last year., most of RootsTech passed me by because of the time difference, but there is a lot more going on that is accessible remotely than it appears at first sight.

Apart from the obvious videos and live streaming, it is worth exploring the Sessions as some of them have their handouts available to download.

Not that I use messaging much on Ancestry - but am looking forward to knowing if someone has read my messages, or are just no longer logging on. Looks like .com has it already

Brilliant news that its coming back to London Caroline, it was a great show last time. Like you I have booked my hotel well early, it had gone up £30 within 12 hours of me booking my room! If anybody is thinking about it I would urge you to book a room early!

The live streams are great, plus a lot of the free content from previous rootstock shows are still available on their site to view

This is one workshop I would have tried to get to:

Finding Your Elusive Female Ancestors - I've only watched a bit so far, but it might be US centric but I am sure there will be useful clues/ideas to apply worldwide and not only for searching for women.

It has been cancelled - and I've already had my refund. Now I need to cancel my hotel - I always book free cancellation luckily.

Good that your refund has been made so promptly.

Sad to see this cancelled but I can see for obvious reason, they had to make a decision early.
