Nice find Vera. His army records are also online under 30388 and 97875. Looks a good match, except for the age :/

I have looked at that marriage a couple of times and dismissed it, I felt it wasn't fitting with occupation.

He looks to be on the 1939 hop picking. With Florence and children. They are transcribed separately on FMP Altered dates of birth a bit confusing. OP would hopefully be able to confirm.

              Possible marriage for daughter Phoebe:
2 Jun 1936 at Beckford, Worcestershire
Walter Smith 30 Coal Merchant, Mill Corner, North Warnborough, Hampshire. Father: Henry Smith, Haulage Contractor
Phoebe Beaver 23 Rabbit Lane, Beckford. Father Joseph Beaver, General Dealer
Witnesses, Joseph, Henry, Emily & Florence Beaver, and Amy Smith

I can only see two people named Phoebe Beaver/Beever born at the tight time, and the other one was Phoebe M Beever in Yorkshire, who appears to also marry there.

                    I think that's right.

Interesting that son Edward was born in Alton 1922, which is where Ellen was recorded as living in that 1924 newspaper article I posted.

There is a tree online with photographs of Edward. It seems a little confused about Joseph’s background, but has him marrying again in 1950 & dying in Cheltenham in 1962.

I have seen the tree with him remarrying in 1950, but they start him in Tyldesley, you can find Joseph from Tyldesley in 1911 census with his wife Honor

So think the end of his life is not the start!

If his abode was Lindford then it is Headley which is not far from Alton or the other places they were in. (I used to live there). Lindford is just down the road from Headley and was part of the parish of Headley then.

if you follow the elec registers Gloucester - Cheltenham, there is a Joseph Beaver on his own, and then he is with Doreen in 1960s, if he is our man.

Not checked all of the addresses, to see if the same Priory street in 1945, Windrush Road 1962

Hastings and St Leonards Observer 29 Sep 1906 mentions Joseph Beaver, Hop Picker

There are various newspaper articles in Cheltenham mentioning Joseph Beaver, including giving out balloons from a lorry in exchange for old rags. He can’t read or write. Another article says he is a scrap dealer of 30 King Street, Cheltenham, and prior to that he is described as a green grocer. In 1934 he is a general dealer of White Walton, near Maidenhead. In 1943 when charged with misuse of petrol he said he was in town placing flowers on the graves of his wife & son, but the only death I can find for a Florence Beaver is 1953, Cheltenham, aged 66

                                    Looking for the Beaver/Dean children:
Joseph 1910 – possibly died 1935 Evesham, Worcestershire
Henry 1915 - by 1939 has possibly become Harry and is living in ‘Tent Caravan’ Amesbury R.D., Wiltshire
                                    John James 1920 - buried 28 Feb 1924 White Waltham, aged 3
Edward 1922 – with parents in 1939. Died
Emma E 1925 – possibly the redacted child in 1939. No idea after that.
Charlie 1929 – died (as Charley Beaver) in Bradfield Berkshire

Interesting that Albert Edward/Edward Albert (496540) was in the Army Veterinary Corps, and this was also Joseph's preference.

Also Joseph're records mention being a Wire Worker (one of the brother's occupations in 1939, cant remember which - possibly the one in Sheffield) and also being a Marine Store Dealer, which is basically another word for scrap man / rag & bone man (I have them in my family)
