was there any kind of obituary, where did they find the info?

seems a strange place for her to die, as she was in the MA area, not far from Boston. New Haven is closer to NY it is where Yale uni is.

      • I guess if they have found Herbert remarrying Minnie Tucker then she has died, but not convinced that would be her death looking at geography. Especially as you say Herbert was back in MA with Minnie - do you have a link to that record?

ahh that makes sense if he is in CT also, it seemed odd just her death there.

                • It’s strange that there doesn’t seem to be an Obituary at all for her.

                  • I have been looking on WW. Never able to find a marriage for Herbert and Minnie. He lodged firstly in 1920 with Minnie and her then husband. Herbert was accompanied by his brother and it was recorded that Herbert was single.

Travel is confusing I can see records of Herbert and Catherine returning to USA 1913, then a record of them not being on board and Herbert at one point travelling alone ?1913. The death in 1913 New Haven doesn't fit with travel of July 1913. Will look at travel again.

                    • I have been unable to find much at all for them. There are a number of Herbert Johnson around too, was expecting less...ever the hopeful.

Can't see Agnes either, was hoping she maybe in MA too.

                          • Thanks for looking both.

I spent ages last night looking for an Obituary for Catherine (Kean) Johnson, but couldn’t find one. It does seem curious, especially as Herbert Johnson seems to have been such a pillar of the community...

this is much later in 1926, if the date of 1913 is correct he would have perhaps not be so well known. The move to New Haven may have been very recent so not known at all.

                                • True, - but you’d think that he would have marked her death in some way?

It’s quite tragic, to die at such a young age...

                                  • did you see the shipping record July 1913 with them recorded from Liverpool? and they were crossed out, spotted this last night but didn't think anything of it.

Wonder if this means something odd - she died in UK, or stayed in UK. There is a Catherine Kean later in the year off to Australia

But Minnie Tucker doesn’t sound the sort of lady who would (knowingly) Marry a bigamist?

Why is nothing about this family straightforwards?

Bit of a quandary with the 1924 death in April. I can see on Ancestry WW Herbert and Catherine on a manifest

It is typed and overlays an Aliens Arrivals passenger list. This has Herbert on passenger list but then has list of 'not on board' which includes Mr H Johnson and Mrs Johnson.
