    b. 1799 Wales, James Williams(officer) to CANADA, to Penn, wife Elizabeth

I'm looking for anyone whom can tie my James to Wales for sure.
Thier daughter, no. 1., grew up in Wales and married there too. Letitia
Then the couple moved to Canada and had Hester Caroline Williams and moved down to Pennsylvania. Hester is my 3rd great grandmother.

The Letitia Handy b 1826 on the 1860 died as a widow in Penn in 1862. I can see the Children in 1870 living together but not with grandparents ? Deceased also.

The husband of the Letitia on the 1860 censuses is, I think, a William C, could be O or B, Handy aged 40 who died in 1854. Buried in the same plot as Letitia at Oddfellows Cemetery, Penn.
Can't find a marriage for them in Wales however.

The family members buried in plot 58 at Oddfellows Cemetery are as follows

                    William B or D Handy d 1854] aged 40
                    Letitia Handy d 1862 aged 38
                    Ida Richt d 1861 aged 9
                    Elizabeth Williams d 1867 aged 68
                    Ella V Richt d 1871 aged 8
                    James E Williams d 1872 aged 74
                    William O Handy d 1883 aged 29

So there is a link with the 1860 census posted and the death records posted by Elaine for Elizabeth and James E Williams

An attachment posted by Elaine is a death announcement for family and friends to attend the funeral of Elizabeth Williams which would be leaving from the house of son in law Charles Richt

Charles transcribed Riche is the husband of an Hester Riche ? nee Williams as seen on the 1870 USA Federal Census.

Charles Riche aged 47 b Penn
Hester Riche aged 38 b Canada
Elisah Riche aged 41 b Penn
Laura Riche aged 12 b Penn
Ella Riche aged 7 b Penn
Emma Hanay 17 (Handy) b Penn
                    William Handy 16 b Penn
James Williams aged 73 b Europe

Need to confirm that Charles Rich/Richt/Riche is the husband of Hester Williams.

On looking at the image James William's place of birth could be Wales, Europe. It has not been fully transcribed.

Elisah on image looks to be 14 not 41

On checking the image of the 1870 census, the place of birth for James Williams could be Wales, Europe. It has not been fully transcribed.

Elisah aged 41 looks like 14.

Hope you will feel a little better soon Elaine.

Wales m a mystery and Penn marriage probably too early for the usual sites.

                            Take it easy

in case anyone wants the 1870 record for James Williams in the Richt household on ancestry
                                  https://www.ancestry.com/interactive...&usePUBJs=true

Ancestry transcribed the surname as Riehl, and he's from "Whaeel Emope"

So, I don't think we doubt that the James Williams found in the 1870 census is your man, and it definitely says he's from Wales.
Are you really seeking to connect him to a birth in Wales? And his parents?
Couple of questions - you say he's an officer - how do you know?
On his memorial page, you list parents for him - what were the clues to your guess?

                                    and welcome to FTF!
