  • Will from norwich court

Prior to 1858, most wills in norfolk and suffolk were proved in norwich.

How do i get a copy of a will or admin from the court? I'm looking in 1819, and the man involved was living in southminster, essex.

If you're sure it was proved in Norwich its likely to be with the Norfolk Records Office. Here's a link to their online catalogue

If this link works, you could well find it here - (view and download)

      A marvellous resource

Thanks judith, i did spot it there. Janet, that link is marvellous.....i found the will and viewed the first page, couldn't figure out how to see the rest. But also found an administration for his daughter, my ancestor! Knew nothing about that!

Pleased the link still worked. You may have to go back to the index and then in again to view the next page - I can't remember, as it is ages since I used the site. I recall that one page was missing from the will of one of my ancestors, so I contacted the Norfolk record office and they got a member of the IT department to sort it - a very helpful chap sent me the link to the missing page.
