This is the only Helen Brock born c1862 with a father William I can find in Scotland in 1871 - William is a coachman -
    http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin...=try&h=1645615

William and his wife Mary both born England, the children born Monimail, Fifeshire. The daughter Mary Jane Brock's baptism gives birth as 23rd August 1860, and parents as William Brock and Mary Staleton.
I can't find a marriage in Scotland for them but there is a possible marriage in June 1860 Holbeach ref 7a 631 - as well as William Brock and Mary Stapleton the others on the page are Betsy Chamberlain and Henry Hammond.

Can you tell me please Montogomery, which documents told you that William Bond was actually William H Bond? Was it the children's births or something as he seems to have married both times as just William.
p.s. I see now that in 1901 he is William H Bond.

This could be the marriage Chrissie put up.

      23rd April 1860

      St Mary's, Long Sutton, Lincs

      Mary Stapleton father John
      William Brock father George

Links with the names of the sons seen on the census records for William and Mary. Pity there wasn't an occupation for father on marriage record

        Hello
Thank you so much for your information. I was wondering if you can find anything about my grandfather William H. Bond 1861b. For the years 1861 until he went to India. I was told his was orphan before he went to India. I have searched an found nothing.

            Hello Montgomery

Please ignore above post (24) posted in error

I was looking at the family in Post 15 (1871 census) as a possible for your William H b 1861

This is I think is the same family in 1861. It is mistranscribed as Band on Ancestry with age for Samuel being 69 but looks more like 60 to me.

            http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin...off=&ml_rpos=1

Samuel Band aged 69/60 Born Plymouth Bricklayer's labourer
Mary 36 wife born Gosport, Hants

            Sarah 13 dau born " "
            John 8 son born " "
            Mary 5 dau born " "
            William 4 months " "

            living ? Chapel Street Alverstoke

On William H's Army record he gives initially next of kin as Mother, Mary and a Sarah. Later nok recorded as Helen (Brock)

In the 1871 census Samuel is still alive but as William H signed up in the early 1870's it could be that Samuel had died by then although mother Mary from this family was alive in 1891 and widowed.

In 1851 the family I think possibly to be William H's are living in Alverstoke

Samuel aged 52 b Plymouth, Devon a Greenwich Pensioner
Mary aged 26 wife b Gosport, Hants

Samuel aged 7 son b Gosport, Hants
            Sarah aged 3 dau b " "

            living ?? Alley, Alverstoke, Hants
