  • Help needed to read name in Will please

    Can anyone decipher this please.
In her father's Will she is married, her maiden name was Charlotte Eliza Killik and I am trying to find her marriage. She was single in1851 at home with parents in Hammersmith, Middx . The Will was written in 1858.

Looks like Perrottet, and there are actually some matches for that on FreeBMD, so it does actually exist as a name! Can't see the marriage on there, though...

      Hello Kate,
I suspect that like Killik, Perrottet, if it is that , is open to some horrendous mistranscriptions.

          I agree with Perrottet

Had a look and i can't see her with that name though - but I would be very suspicious of this woman's death:

          Charlotte Eliza Killick
          abt 1828
          1890 Sep
          aged 62
          Steyning 2b 179
          (Steyning is in Sussex)
          Zoe in London

            Definitly not Priddle, Nifty.
Thereis a Charlotte Killick in Cranley? Hambledon, Sussex
            RG9; Piece: 438; Folio: 89; Page: 17; GSU roll: 542638.
She's unmarried age 43 on 1871 too, can't find her on 81 yet tho'

She was definitely born in London, on 1841 they were living Chiswick and in 51 in Hammersmith where her father and Grandfather had lived. They had a lot of property in Hammersmith and Clerkenwell and Chiswick.

            Does seem strange tho'.

I have searched the images 1851-1861 and cannot find a marriage for her.

Marriage not on Boyds or Phillamores

I wonder whether she could have got married abroad? It looks as though the Perrottets mostly originate from Switzerland. Could she have gone to a Swiss finishing school and got married while she was over there, maybe?

17th March 1856 The Times Online Digital Archive:

The date isn't very clear...it's 5th Nov 1855! And he's Louis Frederic Perrollet.

Ooh, there's posh! Does look as though there was a foreign connection, then. Can't see any Perrollets on FreeBMD, though.

                    There's a Louis here:

HO107; Piece 673; Book: 11; Civil Parish: St Giles in The Fields; County: Middlesex; Enumeration District: 1; Folio: 8; Page: 9; Line: 5

aged 45 in 1841, though there's no Louis junior, which is a shame!

Is this Louis senior giving evidence at the Old Bailey in 1831? (I know it doesn't really help, but I can't help being nosy!)

There's an advert in The Times in 1820 for a Monsieur Perrottet to teach French and German "with the most correct and gramatical prescision" from his address at 117 High St Marylebone.

I should think so! The one I found in 1841 was a Merchant....which could mean anything! lol

Ooh, you find all kinds of stuff if you google Louis Perrottet! There is a site about "The Plantagenet Roll of the Blood Royal" which lists an Esther Marion of Gellibrand Street, Colac, Victoria, da. of Louis Perrottet, as marrying Henry Moore 20 Jan 1885, and having four children.

Here's the Louis I found in 1841 (Merchant). He is now a boarding house keeper in Brighton

Aha, if you look at the Australian electoral rolls on ancestry there is a Charlotte Eliza Perrottet listed in Victoria up to 1924 (sometimes her name is spelt Charlote).

I found that 1848 marriage and this may be the same Louis Frederick with his wife in 1851......He is old enough to be the son of the other Louis and to have been away from home in 1841.

                                      1851: HO107; Piece: 1646; Folio: 467; Page: 3

(same piece number as the older Louis)
