Spent most of Saturday, Sunday and Monday taking advantage of the free access, it's just this branch of the family that's proving elusive.

So got the certificate this morning, it's not the Rosa/Rose Plant/Pleant that's my great great aunt. So where is she? The Charles Pleant person is being so elusive. Haven't found a birth, marriage or death certificate for him. He is named on Florence's birth certificate, and I've a photocopy of Rose's marriage certificate and he's named on that (deceased) but with a different occupation to that listed on Florence's birth certificate. Also having trouble tracking down Annie Maria Hughesman/Pleant after the 1881 census.

Who are the parents and what are their occupations on that certificate Andrea? Just want to rule something out.

Not sure if it is even West on the image. Looks like there is an i in it somewhere. Perhaps someone with better eyesight than mine can have a look.

I won't be back til later tonight now. There are some more names to search for if this is right

I think you may have hit the nail on the head Kat. Alfred West is registered in Dec quarter 1887 in Bromley ....MMN Hughesman! I can't find a marriage of George West to Annie between 1881 and 1891 though. Definitely no marriage of a George Weist.

That's something for me to look into. Thank you.

Ordered Ernest George Hughesman/Pleant/Plant/? death certificate. Tragic end appendicitis and peritonitis, one month after the death of his eldest daughter, she was 6.

I feel guilty about you sending for that birth record Andrea. I should have reminded you about my post #18 where I had looked and found that it was a different one.

Don't worry. I wouldn't have got as far as I have without your help and advice. Rose/Rosa has got to be out there somewhere, she must have a birth certificate somewhere, surely.
