    Do you think it might be Chinery ? Perhaps it was pronounced with e as in egg at the end rather than ee as in tree and the curate wrote it as it sounded? Don't know the dialect in that area - Essex

      I think that's likely. Chinereh as a variant spelling of Chinnery (there's a Chinnery on our local war memorial.

          Yes, I have transcribed it as such. I can find no ref to any other Chinereh so probably Chinery. This curate, as with others, writes the names as they are sounded which sometimes gives rise to weird and difficult names to search for in transcriptions. My 3 x Great Grandmother is found to have married a Colbia when in fact the name is Coolbear. I was so tempted to transcribe this as Coolbear knowing that to be correct but didn't 'cos that's not allowed so just made a note about it.
