www.theislandwiki.org has baptisms for St Helier 1842-1909 and under Bulger there are four children baptised with parents William Bulger and Jane/Margaret Jane Esnouf - Charlotte Douce, Margaret Jane Elisa, Ann Marguerite and John Bond.

Hello, I am a Gt grand-daughter of Eliza Jane Bulger Hobbs, Alice Frances Hobbs her daughter named after Eliza's sister is my grandmother. I have a tree on Ancestry detailing all of this information including records for John Bulger who after leaving the army settled on Jersey and carried on as a shoemaker. He is shown in the St Helier census in 1851 and 1861. Eliza Jane's brother William John married twice, the second time bigamously and Margaret Jane Bulger didn't die in childbirth but of a condition called Phlegmasia, a sort of thrombosis of the lgs, caused by childbirth. William Snr married again letter. Is there more you want to know please contact me.

Brilliant work folks. I can see why a registrar hearing Esnouf pronounced properly would be inclined to think 'ay-nouf' should begin with an H, hence the Hainouf in the GRO index.Last edited by GallowayLass; 05-12-17, 17:50.
