On the passenger list for Helena it says she is from PRUSSIA not Germany. Was she born in Prussia?

In 19th century this part of Poland (Wielkopolska) was in Prussia. But here is the same name Prussia = Germany.

The surname on this one says Beyerstein not Beyerlein and is it Halina or Helena? It could also be Galina - Polish name for Helena.
              http://szukajwarchiwach.pl/53/474/0/...hzt0JtMmHTe6lA.

What about records for Michalina and Maria?? How do you know about these people please?

Also can you tell me how you know Helena had an illegitimate daughter. What record did you find that on? It must have been on a USA one.

Yes, it's mistake. Both is the same person. I'm sure - both is Helena, I ask people, who know old german writing.

About Helena's daughter I know from this record. Why illegitimate? In records wrote name of husband or marriage day. One this card was from all family.

Maria Izabela: born 11.08.1873 in Przemet (Primentdorf, Przemet) in Wielkopolska.

Michalina: born 20.09.1878 in the same place.

Parents: Jozef Bayerlein and Konstancja Poszwińska

But I found one thing. In 1895 to USA arrived Stanislaw Beyerlein. Probably he was Marie's and Michalina's brother. The destination is: elisabeth.

Could this be Stanislaus in 1900? Note the later arrival of brothers.

The person I think COULD be Stanislaus Beyerlein is number 66 on the census return in the link in #48

His name is misrecorded, but often unfamiliar immigrant names did present problems - they were written as people thought they sounded.
He is a coal miner in Pennsylvania, which is the next state to NJ

I don't know whether or not this is the same man that Pawel was referring to, as his record is for 1895, whilst the coal miner said he arrived in 1885.

In my opinion number 66 is Burdyn, not Beyerlein.

                          I see it as Burlyn!

One of the problems with family history is the spellings of the names of people and places, which are not always as we would expect them to be, for a whole range of reasons.

Yes, it's true. With "Bayerlein" surname I've got problems in polish or german documents.

Thanks for the info re the baptisms, Pawel.
I wonder what happened to Helena's daughter. I was looking on the passenger ships to see them both together as she would have been 3 or 4 years at sailing date.
