When the name Adams was "given " to you, do you know the thought process behind this?
(I'm wondering if we can attack this from another front, so to speak!)

I thought it was probably her and there are some reports in the paper about a John Kirkman leaving his children nearly destitute while he was off elsewhere, eldest daughter had already left home

Can't access Julie's link - I only have the basic package.
Does it refer to Sarah Adams?

If you mean that last link Jay, it's a Mary Kirkman aged 35 in prison in Leicester in 1844 for Larceny. Two convictions - 5 months and 1 month.
Chrissie passed away in January 2020.
