Has anyone found a death registration for Samuel? He was buried 3 Jun 1876 in a common grave at Hanwell Cemetery, aged 61, last address Knightsbridge Barracks, but I just cant see a death registration for him.
I would have thought it should be St George, Hanover Square, but I just can't see it.

no only record I found is on post 44, from FMP.
I can't see any marriages tried various different combinations of searches.
Also tried tracking Benjamin b 1850, didn't find any interesting documents for him, not sure if the fold 3 record will give more. And I was also not sure if some were his.Carolyn

I looked for Benjamin too. I was hoping that as he seems to have been in & out of the workhouse a bit c1917 there might have been some additional documents, but I didnt really find anything.
I think this, from FMP, is possibly related to the Fold3 record:
1871: Benjn Sharratt, 2nd Bn 5th (Northumberland) Regiment of Foot, No. 1920, HQ Location: Glasgow
Deserted. Discharged on 9 May 1871 at Glasgow. Labourer. Born Chelsea
There is also an 1880 discharge document for Benjn Sharratt. Discharged from the Royal Artillery 14 Jun 1880, No. 1739, Invalided. Service towards pension: 9yrs 92 days
Ancestry has his marriage, 31 Aug 1874, Tarbert, Kerry - Gunner Benjamin Sharratt & Honoria Wren. No parents mentioned, but this is the army record, not the church record.
The church record is on Irishgenealogy, but Benjamin is recorded, and also appears to sign, as Patrick Sharratt of the Royal Artillery, father Samuel Sharratt, Shoemaker. Married in the Roman Catholic chapel at Tarbert in the union of Glin, Kerry. Honoria/Honora signs as Nora.
Hopefully this link will work, if not, its easy enough to find (and free)

Birth of Benjamin's daughter, Mary Ann in 1875 (he's back to being Benjamin Sharratt of the Royal Artillery!)

I think he remarries too, but not found anything else to bring together Weaver and Rampton.
I then went to look at the Ramptons I am puzzled by George Ramptons birth and marriage certificate that is on the Ancestry, it states his father was a Blacksmith. I think maybe another rabbit hole!
See Scotts tree https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tr...39765268/facts
and I think this maybe his birth
I see that George Junior was in the army at age 11Carolyn

I wondered if 'Patrick' was a name he adopted to suit the Catholic church?
I found another record I thought might (just might) be connected to George & Mary Ann. If George Sr was originally in the army, which is what the 1842 newspaper report said, then Irishgenealogy has a record of the burial of Geo RAMPTON of Beggars Bush Barracks, Dublin on 26 April 1839, aged 3. Could this be a child of George & Mary Ann, buried just before their next son was born, who they also named George? Their older son John was said to have been born in Dublin c1833.
Again, Im not sure if these links work OK, but its easy enough to find the original:
A long shot, but could George & Mary Ann have married in Ireland, and the records be lost?

The only thing I can currently think of is to order the death certificate of John Rampton of the Coldstream Guards, and hope that the informant was Mary Ann Sharratt, mother.

I'll order the death certificate today and see if it sheds any light on it.

There is a publication of the history of the guards, along with a list of the stations:
if you search for Dublin within the book you can see the dates that they were there.
There is a list from 1833 in the appendix Aug 19 2nd battalion arrive back from Dublin. I am always suspicious when first born is not fathers name.Carolyn

The fact that he had blacksmith down he had left the army by then, but seems maybe only recently. census 1841 in Staines is not far from Windsor and often stationed there, and he would have been a 'journeyman' as not really established in the area, probably only recently arrived.
I assume he must have had an army pension, but guess records not available?
And I assume that the widow will get something, thinking maybe there was a tendency to not remarry to 'keep' the pension, and maybe keep his name on in some records? Just thinking out loud of todays benefit frauds and whether that would apply then?Carolyn
