Thanks Merry, mistranscribed on Ancestry as 'sinners'!, I wonder if the same is true of 1881..any luck there?

If it helps I have Louisa's birth details:

Louisa Eliza Turner, b. 6 John Street, South Hackney, 18 Sept. 1879

The West children are called Turner on the 1881! Also Louisa is down as Eliza, but I still think it's them!

John TURNER Head M 29 Marble Polisher St Lukes, Middlesex
Elizabeth TURNER Wife M 28 Laundress Hackney, Middlesex
Charles TURNER Son 11 Scholar Hackney, Middlesex
Elizabeth TURNER Daur 6 Scholar Hackney, Middlesex
Eliza TURNER Daur 1 Hackney, Middlesex

Oh, doh!! I've just realised you posted the birth address!!! This is where the above family is:

6 John St London, Middlesex, England !!

I expect you could do with John being a marble polisher in 1871 and not a porter! A little easier to recognise

Hi Merry did not realise you'd be doing this, many thanks, had just been off doing exactly the same! Had same results, with this possible for John in 1861:

8 Ward Place, Shoreditch st Leonard, Haggerstone
Joseph Turner, head, mar, 50, Fishmonger, Stepney
                    Clara Turner, 45, wife, Whitechapel
                    Thomas Turner, son, 19, Whitechapel
                    William Turner, 16, son, Whitechapel
                    Charles Turner, 14, son, Whitechapel
                    Robert Turner 11, son, Whitechapel
                    John Turner, son, 9, Shoreditch
                    Emma Turner, dau, 7, Shoreditch
                    Jane Turner, dau, 5, Shoreditch
                    George Turner, son, 1, Shoreditch

I suppose I'm going to need the wedding cert to sheck his father was a Joseph and a fishmonger, to know if that is him, can't really go back further on the Turners without it.

Elizabeth I have found with a bit more certainty on 1861 Gowing Street, same road as her first marital home with Charles West:

1861 1 Gowing Street, South Hackney
John Stinton, 47, head, bricklayer, London
Sarah Stinton, wife, 47, London, Middlesex
Mary Stinton, dau, 21, charwoman, London
George Stinton, son, 17 Bricklayer, London
                    Sarah Stinton, dau, 11, London
Elizabeth Stinton, dau, 9, scholar, London
                    Harriet Stinton, dau, 4, London

However cannot find her family on 1851 so would certainly appreciate any help on that.

                    Thanks

I got a bit carried away as I was waiting for my son to come home from a sleepover and he was an hour late! lol

I saw that fishmonger one too! Hope he is the one, as wasn't dad born somewhere out of London? Would probably make the "ordinary" surname a bit easier to work with!

Hi Merry, certainly appreciate the help anyway, good to know I'm not barking up the wrong trees!

Joseph Turner I have down as being born in Stepney I think..so still be searching for the proverbial needle on that line! What worried me is there is another John born 1854 in Shoreditch, though that age only fits with the age he gives on the latest census, 1901, and therefore most likely to be wrong when weighted against the evidence of all the others, the niggling doubt is that John was the son of an Eliza. Would make sense what with Louisa his first daughter being given that as a middle name. Think it will have to be a certificate job!

                          I agree!

I must have got Joseph mixed up with another one :(
