Do you own a Camera?
Do you like exploring churchyards/villages?
If so FTF needs your help with a couple of projects.
The Places of Worship project was started in October 2007 with the aim of providing photos of churches and chapels (including ruins and conversions) in England, Scotland and Wales where your ancestors may have been baptised, married or buried. The use of these photos in your research not only helps to put “flesh on the bones” but also gives the added bonus of adding images which you may not have the opportunity to take yourself.
We have had tremendous support with this project since it started .. but we need more!
Do you think you can help? If you have a camera and a church nearby, then you can!
Another FTF project is the Foundation Stones database. Whilst you are out and about, keep an eye out for any foundation stones or plaques that you might see on buildings, churches, etc. What we need here is a transcription, rather than a photo,
What to do with your photos and transcriptions:
Photos for the Places of Worship project can be added to the photo threads in our Regional Projects forums
In the same forums you will also see regional discussion threads, so why not add a comment and introduce yourself. If you need information as to which photos have already been submitted and which are still needed, the coordinators will be there to help.
Any transcriptions for Foundation Stones can be added by you directly to our database, accessed via the Site Projects link on the navigation bar at the top of the screen.
Get your notebooks out and batteries charged and start snapping! We look forward to seeing lots of new submissions.
