    Mariner Records 1800-1850

Hello everyone - I wonder if you can help, are there records of mariners - from Devon/Cornwall, in the first half of the 1800s, or earlier? I am looking for Thomas Noseworthy, born 1779.
    Thanks for reading this!

    Hi Rachel,
I've had a look in the Trinity House Petitions indexes and there aren't any Noseworthys from the Devon/Cornwall area.

There was, however, one Nosworthy Molly, aged 40, widow of Edward, of St George, Southwark petitioned in 1807.
According to the IGI they had a son John Perry Noseworthy bapt 2nd Dec 1787 in Lympstone,Devon.

If you have any more mariners in your tree i can search for them in the indexes.

Many thanks Astro Lady, that is it for now,Thomas is listed as a Mariner on his son's marriage certificate in 1853 - he married several times, late in life and isn't always evident on the census! There are lots of Noseworthy's in Devon and London, I'll certainly see if Molly, Edward and John Perry fit!
      Thanks again

the site http://www.mariners-l.co.uk/ gives a lot of information on what records are available and how to research. The rootsweb email list mariners-l has a number of helpful people who answered my mariner questions.

Mariners List deals with ships and dont answer questions on individuals so try crew lists http://www.crewlist.org.uk/ who do,
