    Val the East India Company do have records - ancestry has some - so you may be able to chase her up, or at least her parents, through those..............good luck

    There was a big British contingent in the Cape around then. The French had been chucked out and the Dutch hadn't yet invaded. The East India Company used it as an important staging post.

    South Africa. If you find Cape Town on a map, then you'll find the Cape of Good Hope just to the south of it.
