  • Can anyone find this woman please?

    Hi

Im looking for Judith Bowkett born c1799. In 1841 she is with her family here:

H107, piece 350, book 12 in Pauntley, Gloucestershire

In 1851 her husband John is listed as head with youngest child Allen.

I have Judiths death cert from 1858 in which she died of old age and exhaustion in an asylum.

I just cannot find her in 1851, as i need to know her place of birth.

    Many thanks for your help

On 1841 it says she was born out of the county. The only possilbe I can see on the 1851 is Judith Burnett b.1802 Aylesbury Bucks, married and visiting in Kirdford Sussex??? I can't see anyone called Judith Burnett on 1841 or 1861?

There is a submitted entry on the IGI for John and Judith's marriage, if that's any help - John Bowkett and Judith Dee, 16 Feb 1819 at Pauntley. The person who submitted it has also submitted a birth entry for Judith, but that is much vaguer - "about 1799, Gloucester". There is an extracted record for a Judith Dee baptism 17 Feb 1799 at Castlemorton, Worcester, though. Wonder if that could be her?

              Hi all

sorry had to get back to work!

Thats my Judith, I was hoping the 1851 might confirm the Worcester birth. I have two names of Dees on their marriage, Richard and Elizabeth so hopefully they will help narrow down the process, but only once i confirm the place of birth.

Thanks for the Bucks one and for Ellen as well, will take a look closely at those

Judith died in Barnwood lunatic asylum in Gloucester

There appears to be 2 asylums in Gloucestershire on the 1851 census....nothing to say which might be Barnwood.

There are a few J Bs listed a s patients, but none born about 1799. The nearest is b. 1809 but is male. The nearest female was b. 1821 and no birth place is given.

Just wanted to add a bit of info - as the family name evolved you will probably find them under the name Bowcott, I have had experience with this surname the mistranscribing is terrible - good luck.

thanks all for your help, im very grateful. My Bowketts seem to die out in the late 1890's, which is a shame as they were such a prominent family through the late 1700's to mid 1800's
