  • The Royal Potteries, Gordon Road, Nunhead Surrey 1873

I'm trying to find some information about the Royal Potteries in the above place and year.

I have a couple of ancestor generations who were master potters there but I'm struggling to find anything the place.

    Any help appreciated, thank you.

There is a report in the South London Press 19th Apr 1873 on the death of WH Wakeman of the Royal Potteries who was potter of flowerpots to the Queen and Prince of Wales (and was also a well know dahlia grower.)

There is an ad for potters in 1873, and only those sober with a steady hand need apply! W Wakeman & sons

In the article Jill mentions there is mention of Mr Champion Walworth Road as another founder of the pottery

They are with the Surrey Floricultural society
