  • Rosina Alice Gurry

I have started a tree for a friend and seem to be getting stuck every line! This one is the trickiest atm, someone has managed to morph her into Gray on ancestry which I am not liking at all, and pretty sure this is wrong. I have her birth cert pdf and there is no father.

    https___www.gro.gov.uk_gro_content_certificates_ov_00000075228480023109_4954722_3XIXWBB19IBKFXD.jpg

trying to trace 1871 in the hope Mum and child together so that I can find mother pob but having no luck.

the 1891 I have a possible here, is just a guess, and may be completely wrong.

there is a removal order stating Elizabeth Williams properly Gurry, and living in Edmonton could be her, in 1919

I've had a quick look and not doing very well. Don't have Ancestry so can't see what you have copied for us.

Have found in 1881 Rosina Garry as a Scullery maid aged 19.

Also 1861 Elizabeth Gurry born 1842 Sutton Bedfordshire in Islington as a sister, There are quite a few Gurry's on the page.

If these are what you have posted sorry.

Have you thought of checking the street on the birth certificate?

12 Bluebell or Blundell Street, Islington is what I think it says.

I wonder if that address was a place where women could go to have their babies, as against going to the Workhouse Infirmary?

I have a family in OH's line that moved either just before or just after a census, several times. Drove me crazy trying to sort it out ......... particularly since they often exchanged places in 2 counties with cousins who had the same forenames. grrrrrrrrrr

There is a strong suggestion that one set were actually Quaker (while also going to CofE for baptisms/marriages/and burial service), and moved due to harassment.

Well done Teasie. In bed last night I thought we should look for her as Elizabeth Williams. With Bedford as her birth place it could be the one I found on the census.

Good luck with them Carolyn. Hope it is the correct family.

Wow thank you teasie , she is looking like my Elizabeth, and likely be the one Lin Fisher found from Sutton in Beds in 1861

Will get back onto this later, and then will have another go at the Flints.

The trees that have her as Grey do seem to be completely wrong.

This would suggest to me that she never married.

I wondered about the term properly. That is a nuisance could have done with the record.

Katarzyna thank you will add these.
