I have a marriage in 1921 in edmonton, middx between William Webb and Barbara May Sorrell.

barbara may seems to be eluding me before the marriage, the only possible birth record i can find is for May Barbara sorrell in 1900 in Fulham, london

The 1939 has her as babara m webb born 14 dec 1899

anyone with better eyes than me locate her in 1901 or 1911

There is Barbara May Sorrell aged 10 on 1911 census. Parents Edward Richard aged 53 and Katherine aged 52 living at 87 Cassidy Road Fulham. This is from FMP. Barbara is born Fulham. Will keep looking.

There seems to be 2 edward richard sorrell, one is in fulham and the other is hampstead
i think the hampstead one is our red herring and beatrice is not barbara.
the wives are different and i cant find a new marriage

It isn't at all unknown for people to switch names around, so why are you dismissing May Barbara as being the wrong birth??

This is her registration from GRO, with mother's maiden name ...........

The 1901 census shows her as just May, not Beatrice May. One of her brothers in 1911 is Norman William b.1896 but he was born William Norman so parents switched around at least 2 of their childrens names.

I agree - parents were Edward Richard Sorrell and Catherine Cavallier.
