  • Rebecca Brown can anyone fill in the gaps please.

    Hi everyone,

I have just this minute found a possible marriage for Rebecca Brown to Joseph Pashley in Derbyshire, I don't have a sub to anywhere so can't find any other details. I can see from the Death index that she possibly died in 1869 aged 76. She was baptised on 13th March 1793 @ Pinxton Derbyshire to William and Catherine Brown [nee White] Rebecca had a sister called Rebecca she was born and died in 1791.
can anyone see any records pertaining to this lady please.

    Thank you
    Julie

Oh that's a surprise, thank you Katarzyna I was just looking to see if they had any children and I found a baptism in Worksop in 1815 says Joseph is a Blacksmith and his wife Rebecca, BUT I can't see any more children being baptised in Nottinghamshire on my disc. William was bapt 03/03/1815. that's as much as I have.

ooooh that's looking promising, Rebeccas parents were William & Catherine, so maybe a naming convention going on. I 'think' from William/Rebeccas marriage that she had a brother called George and a sister called Hannah. Catherine was born in South Normanton, Derbyshire. I kind of lose her though after she had Rebecca, I couldn't spot her anywhere aside from a place miles away...

Julie, have just googled his name and occupation and there is a local history group and it mentions Joseph and his son George being blacksmiths in Whitwell. Haven't read it all but is worth having a look at. I've been to Whitwell church as I had family there as well.

Just PM'ed you the parish record for marriage.

Yep, I found that one too not long ago. Looks like a good fit and his parents names match his children's too, I know that doesn't necessarily mean that it IS definitely him, but it's a good indicator especially as there seem to be so few Josephs born in Sheffield at that time.
