Week 67: My ancestor was a saddler, harness or collarmaker

This is an opportunity to showcase a maker of equine equipment, you might want to offer a short biography and speak about their work eg
    Name
    Birth location/date
    Family background
Where you've found them on the census
    Their workplace/employer
Any tips on researching this occupation?

Robert Whiffen was a harness and collarmaker in Rushey Green near Lewisham in Kent, he was born in about 1795 and in 1817 married my 3x great grandfather's sister Mary Ann Crisp at St Giles in the Fields. He his listed in Pigots Directory for 1825 at Rushey Green, he was buried at St Mary, Lewisham on 23 Apr 1828. His widow was left with 5 children and had a grocers business, she remarried to neighbour Henry Hutson in 1849.
