Oh my goodness you have been busy ! Thank you so much this is amazing info . Really appreciate all your efforts and time , one step closer. At least we know more about what happened to them .I will check with Warriston Crematorium .I notice Margory his sister was informant on Angus`s death cert .As she lived in Edinburgh it is possible his ashes were spread on her gravestone if there is one . I still have a bit time our open day is 27th May .
    Thanks again

I notice that in all the things I found, the surname is MacLean rather than McLean including the SP death indexes for them. The valuation roll has that old lazy humbug M’ instead of Mc or Mac. Make sure you say to the folks at Warriston that someone may have written it either way in the records of what happened to a deceased person’s ashes. I have not dealt with staff there before so I am not sure if they would automatically look for all versions or just check for exactly the version you quote.

          Sounds promising.
pm me the name of the firm. A friend (ex colleague) of mine’s husband works for one of the long established firms.

I would like to give you all an update on Angus MaClean and Marion Robertshaw . After months of not really getting anywhereI have found out what happened to them . I had info on them at the beginning of their life, parents , where they lived etc. but seemed to had hit the proverbial brick wall . I had found that they went back and forward to Burma quite a lot , but just couldn`t find anything on their time in Burma . Then about 3 weeks ago I had a light bulb moment ! Knowing he was principal of the Agricultural College in Dumfries, I wondered if the College had a facebook page . It certainly did , so I posted a query on the site . I didn`t hear anything for a couple of week , then a series of coincidences happened . First off I had a phone call from one of my husbands cousins who lived in Lockerbie . I had told her of my quest, and she told me that the local paper had an article , requesting anyone who knew of the family to get in touch with me through my email address . A few days later I had a reply from someone who knew the family well ! It turned out the lady`s father was very friendly with Angus . They would go to church together ,and when Marion died this family would give Angus a lift to church etc. Angus had given her father all his notes ,paper, diaries on his time in Burma . Angus was principal of the Agricultural College, in Mandalay , Burma . It also details his flight from Burma when the Japanese invaded . It mentions 2 videos of his time in Burma . This lady had kept all his books and papers in the attic for for over 50 yrs !!. She of course did not know of any surviving family in Dunbar . I was absolutely amazed , that finally I had all the information we had been looking for since May . Could hardly believe it . She has offered us the documents , so we could have all the information etc, for our archives. When we had our open day in May we discovered someone who was closely related to Angus, he is her great uncle . We have offered to give her all the books etc ,as I feel it is only right that she and her family will be presented with everything we have found . She very kindly said that when all the family have read all that is in the documents that the family feel it should be in the place where it can be enjoyed by a wider audience. We are so excited that at last we have provided the family with a history of part of the family they knew nothing about .They didn`t know of his time in Burma, or the existence of the beautiful stained glass window, that Angus had made to commemorate his loving wife We have made arrangements to travel to Dumfries to meet this lady. She is going to show us around and point out the College ,Church and house connected to Angus and Marion . We are also going to take the great niece of Angus , whose parents are buried in Spott Church ,to show her around .

You have all been so helpful ,especially GallowayLass. I feel so pleased that our journey is almost completed . I was sure you would have liked to know the outcome.
