  • Harts of Chalfont - Newspaper lookup

From FindaGrave, the Hart family of Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire are buried in the graveyard, without ages/birthdates. I think they're my peeps
Thomas Hart, 1829: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/...25/thomas-hart (baptism and marriage records as Tom)
Cecily Hart, 1835: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/...25/cecily-hart (marriage record as Cecilia, as well as her children's baptism records)
    Hannah Hart, 1832: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/...38/hannah-hart

Can someone check for obituaries for them?
I don't know how to make pretty links, sorry.

Obits are more an american thing unless the family was rich and well known or just down right notorious.

Have you been able to find burials in the parish registers?

I didn't find their burials on FS, and I don't have any subs right now. Not sure how closely I looked on FS.

Altho I didn't expect a lengthy obit, I was hoping there might be a funeral/death notice.

        Thanks for looking!

I just looked again at FS - their catalog doesn't look like they've got the registers needed. Also, this was a long line of DIssenters, so I'm not sure which parish records are needed. I think the FindAGrave pages indicate they were buried in a Congregational burial grounds. Unfortunately, all three were buried in the decade or two before 1837.

It is a small place, and in a posh area. https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/BKM/ChalfontStGiles

Have seen that the sister of the bank of England manager lived there and he dies there whilst on a visit

Have you seen the genuki page https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/BKM/ChalfontStGiles

still looking but not found anything.

Sounds like any evidence if a stone maybe gone - or in now in a private garden. there are 2 places like that in Ampthill.

The FindAGrave pages were created by a volunteer who has created 100k memorial pages. Her bio says something about wanting to share genealogy info that's she collected over the years. No indication if these were actual stones, or if the info was gleaned from a parish record. No photo with the memorial page, but sometimes volunteers wait to post photos until a request is made.

Interesting that Hannah's page is linked to her parents. Something is either on a stone or in a record.

Thanks for your help. It's a side branch of mine, and pretty distant.

There are some baptisms in the parish on ancestry's non conformist collection, but i couldn't spot any burials.

Until a few months ago, I lived within walking distance of Chalfont St Giles. I believe the Congregational Chapel is long gone, but the non-conformist burial ground is still there.

You can just see one of the gravestones over the top of this wooden gate ( in Deanway)
