  • Grandads Army record

I am trying to find my grandads army records. I have got the following from Ancestry but there is nothing to view as it says look at Fold 3 which I do not have. I am not sure even if it is him as it is a West Sussex regiment and he lived in Charlton in London. This is what it says

    Henry Wynn
    Service Number 6494, 158922
    Queens Royal Regiment (West Sussex)
    Ref No 11/M/339519, Z/RWS/381

All I have is a photo of him. He died very young (not in the war). Any help is appreciated
    Regards
    Ann

As it's Remembrance weekend it's free access on Fold3. You just need to register.

Edit. I've sent you a PM.

2nd Edit. I've sent a 2nd PM re FMP records.

Someone has been transcribing hundreds of WW1 records and this spreadsheet basically gives the same information as FMP which I've sent you.

G6494 WYNN, Henry 7 B Royal West Surrey 02/06/17 GSW Shoulder R 8/1 Dis to Base Dtls Etaples ex 2 Can Gen H HA 10212

This link downloads a excel spreadsheet if you want it:

Here's his medal card, but not a lot on it.

        and the Award Rolls

I suspect his joining up papers were destroyed by enemy action in WW2.

Thank you very much. The address was my grandads in 1932 and he died in 1933.
There is not much else as you say, but at least I now have his regiment. The only thing I dont understand is the stamp DEAD on it, as I said he dies in 1933
          Thank you again
          Regards Ann

Keldon, you are right there, that transcriber is a Great War Forum member who has been doing that work for a number of years. Cheers

The document which looks like an index card is part of Fold3's WW1 pension records, so I assume they were kept up to date with the pensioner's details. Hence the death stamp.
