Another GRO conundrum ...

Hi all, I have a record from Ancestry for the death of Thomas Shale d.1850, Cookham vol 6 page 116, it shows on FreeBMD but when I put the info onto the GRO website it doesn't find it? Trying to see how old he was when he died to decide if a birth I have found could be his!! Anyone think of a way to find it on GRO as it must have the surname?

GRO Reference: 1850 M Quarter in COOKHAM Volume 06 Page 116

You need to try boxes at side phonetically or similar sounding

Surname is showing as Shales on the GRO index. Age 71. I did a search on 1850, Dec Q and Cookham. Then Surname as Shales with the "similar sounding variations" option and forename Thomas.
