1921 Census Problem

Hello, Hoping somebody can help me with this I cannot find an entry for my family on the 1921 census . I have them on the 1911 and also the 1939 register, I know where they were living but they do not show. Can someone advise whether its possible that they did not submit a return, I thought it was a legal requirement.

Hello, thank you for quick response . I am looking for my Great Grandparents Frederick (B.1871) and Beatrice (B.1876) Hollis and their children they all lived in Loughton Essex or thereabouts

Do you already know their birthplaces? I found a relative eventually, he was mistranscribed but found him by using his first name, year of birth and birth place of Barnoldswick.

Hello Jill on the A272 - Thank you for that bit of advice . I have found them via their youngest daughter who had a very unusual name, their surname has been misspelt

It's amazing two families living in the same house both surnames misspelt and various christian names misspelt
