  • Clara Poole missing in action...

I have been tracking some Pooles and have been looking primarily Clara Poole. b.1843 Birmingham UK. d/of William Henry Poole and Mary [Tonks] Poole

I have her in 1851/1861/1871 and 1891 I can't seem to find her in 1881. She is listed as a servant/Charwoman

    1851: https://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bi...57&usePUB=true
    Class: HO107; Piece: 2060; Folio: 406; Page: 25; GSU roll: 87315-87316

    1861:https://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bi...&rhSource=8860
    Class: RG 9; Piece: 2170; Folio: 102; Page: 18; GSU roll: 542929

    1871:https://www.ancestry.co.uk/discovery.../15541697:7619
    RG10; Piece: 3135; Folio: 51; Page: 8; GSU roll: 839227

    1891:https://www.ancestry.co.uk/discovery...d=422210249057
    RG12; Piece: 2405; Folio: 61; Page: 35; GSU roll: 6097515

Can anyone else spot her in 1881, please? Clara dies in 1898 in Aston District.
    She never marries either.

    thanks for reading.

AHA! you found that one as well. I did wonder if the head of the house just liked the name so used it? I did look at the related links with a Betsey Pooley.. they are two different people by the looks of it.

I'll have a look to see if I can spot that 1871 you are on about Val.

      Thanks.

Thats the same one as post #2, this family are a mare! both Clara and her sister Agnes Mary go missing and then pop back up to die. They've probably bogged off with their uncle Frederick who goes missing for 20yrs before re appearing in the workhouse in Rugby!

She was born in 1852 Val in Birmingham, and yes that is her in 1891. I can't find her in 1901 but have her in 1911 and she dies in 1922 in kings Norton district.

Yep.... the names are very very confusing, the 1851 names Hannah as the mother but in fact, her name is Harriett. [and you have the 1851 showing with the 1871]

Clara Poole b.1849 daughter of James & Harriett Poole in 1881 is cousin to Clara Poole b.1843 d/of William Henry & Ann Poole.

I think though that Elaine is right, I've just been looking at Clara b.1849 and she marries John Lees in 1872.

So I'd say that the 1881 where Clara is a servant is Clara b.1843 [maybe she lied about her age to get the job?]
