Ancestry acquired geneanet, is that what you were thinking of?
filae and geneanet are the only two sites that specialise in french records, and geneanet had shares and a partnership in filae. But geneanet couldn't afford to buy filae, so myheritage got them.
it's seen as the death of independant french genealogy, ancestry and myheritage have poor reputations in europe.

I would subscribe directly to filae to be honest.
It would certainly be far cheaper with the monthly option and probably easier to get out later of as well, hence my suggestion about it being useful for those who already have a sub to MyHeritage! I have edited my post to emphasise this.

MyHeritage French records
Email sent to us - I don't usually post these but if you have a records sub to the site, this may be interesting:
We’re happy to announce that we’ve just published a huge treasure trove of 463 million historical records from France in 5 collections, which provide the most comprehensive coverage available for birth, marriage, and death records from France in the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. When MyHeritage acquired Filae — a leading genealogy service in France — two months ago, we promised that Filae’s valuable and exclusive content would soon become available on MyHeritage. This release constitutes a significant portion of the historical record content on Filae; many of the records are exclusive and not available on other commercial sites.
The collections in this release include:- France, Church Baptisms and Civil Births with 154.4 million records.
- France, Church Marriages and Civil Marriages with 125.3 million records.
- France, Church Burials and Civil Deaths with 149.1 million records.
- 1872 France Census, taken in the aftermath of the Franco-Prussian War and consisting of 16.4 million records from 67 French departments.
- 1906 France Census, consisting of 17.6 million records from 63 departments in France. Paris is not included in the 1872 and 1906 collections, as census taking in Paris only began in 1926.
All of them include a high-quality index of transcribed records and beautifully scanned images of the original documents.
This impressive compilation is just the beginning of our work with Filae to make historical records from France easily accessible to genealogists all over the world… so stay tuned!
I encourage you to check out the new collections and spread the word among your friends, family, and followers. Here’s a link to our blog post with more details on the collections. Feel free to use the above graphic on your blog and/or social media.
Enjoy,
