  • FHL records on Ancestry

When you see records on Ancestry with no image they sometimes say FHL records. I am assuming this means the Mormon church records. If you go to their centre to look at the records do you get an image or the same as you see on Ancestry

There's no single answer to that - sometimes yes, sometimes no, sometimes the image is available but you have to search the film manually, and sometimes you can only view it at a family history centre.

Ancestry (and other sites) have made available many of the transcriptions that FamilySearch/FHL has. Ancestry sometimes says something about "image available at" and gives a link - yes, you would still need to sign into FS, but you would see the image if you follow the link. It's similar to Ancestry providing links to FindAGrave and other websites.

Other times the reference to FS/FHL is just part of the citation, which also includes film number. You can go to the FS/FHL catalog and see if that film's images are online.
