Help to find James Allen please

Guest repliedI was thinking that bap is him, they often call James John and visa versa.

Thank you all very much. That has given me some dates to work with which I never had before.
I will now see if I can find James birth as I am grateful for the death details. Also have a bit more towards John his son

Yes I have those. I thought if I could find the others then I could find birth or where he lived for James so I can go back

I assume you have all the other census, but can't find his early life? 1861 - 1911 seem easy to find on Ancestry.

Help to find James Allen please
I have John David Allen born 1828 in Greenwich and married Rachel Ashdown. His fathers name was James. I have been trying to find more about James but cant find anything. I tried the 1841 and 1851 census but no trace at all for the family. Mothers name was Sarah.
I know this is not a lot to go on. John went on to join, I think, the merchant navy.
