Were married men allowed to enlist in the army in the 1880's, and if so were they paid extra due to having a spouse and possibly children to support.

    Thanks

As far as I know married men were always able to enlist. Historically, their wives often followed along with them.

Thanks Galloway Lass, I know the wife didn't follow, but he was never sent abroad. There was obviously some contact between the 2 while he was in the Army, just wondered why he said he was unmarried.
