I have a bit of a strange thing going on here!!!. I have Hannah Hollinshead as my 4th great grandmother and her parents are John Hollinshead and Elner unknown. It looks fine until I click on John Hollinshead and it keeps saying husband of 5th great grandmother. I have checked and it has him as the biological father and husband but it just wont say that he is my 5th great grandfather. I even deleted him and re-added him but it just comes back the same. Cant see why this is happening. Any ideas please?

I have had that too - drives me crazy. Can't remember who it was but definitely a direct line - no second marriage etc.
I do have a lot of cousin marriages, I wonder if that could cause a blip generations back- just a thought.
I don't have an ancestry tree, this is on Family Tree maker.

I wouldn't have thought so as lots of my direct line (probably most) have children named after their mum or dad.herky
