  • Marriage record - dead end?

Hi all, just found this marriage record on Ancestry for a William Lewis who married Hannah Griffiths. I was getting no hints for him apart from finding this, however, the father he names doesn't have the same surname?? The only think I can think of it that he is his step father? Now that I have accepted this I'm getting records for William Lewis and William Thomas with pretty much same YOB and place! Any idea on where I should start with them and how to check they are the same man?

    Thanks for taking a look!

don't forget a lot of ancestry hints come from others adding to their trees. So I would check any trees and see if they have any evidence t o back up this fact.

I think in cases like this you just need to amass 'findings', and ensure they are never in 2 different places at the same time. I see that there is a Mary Thomas witness, do you know who they are.

with Welsh records it is doubly hard as so many Thomas around.

Not sure if you have seen this one in relation to son of William Lewis b 1823 and Hannah Griffiths b 1825/7.

A William Lewis is lodging at the White Hart with Publican Tlhomas Thomas (probably a red herring in relation to mc)

William Lewis 14 Lodger Shoemaker b ? Llanganderein

Next door at the Grocers Shop is

                Thomas Harries/Harris ]
                Hannah Harries/Harris b 1827 ?Llangen,,,,,,,,,
                plus children

                Then at the Butchers Arms

Elizabeth Lewis Head Innkeeper b 1817 Llanddarog
James Lewis Brother Stable Servant b 1825 b Llanddarog

Wonder if the above Lewis are connected to your William b 1823. Although Williams mc and banns have him OTP and a Resident of Ystradgynlais, he may not have been born there
